SHC orders deployment of woman commandoes at female universities, hostels

The Sindh High Court has ordered to deploy woman police commandoes at all the girls colleges, female educational institutions, girl hostels and public universities of the province, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The court has banned the deployment of male security staff at the girls’ educational institutions saying in case of non-compliance of the court order, legal action would be taken against the vice chancellors of the universities and other concerned authorities.

The court was hearing a petition regarding sending Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University Vice Chancellor Aneela Ataur Rehman on forced leave on Monday.

The court ordered that students should be imparted education with dignity. 

It ordered the DIGs and SSPs to provide protection to the victim female students. It banned deployment of males in girls’ hostels and public universities. It warned the VCs of action if they did not comply with the court order.

The SHC directed to send the copies of the court order to the Sindh IG police, DIG and SSP. 

The SHC said that the Article 14 of the Constitution provides equal rights to every citizen. 

According to the petition, SBBU Larkana VC and dean of Faculty of Animal Production and Technology were sent on forced leave. But prima facie the allegations against the petitioners were not proved. Moreover, no record was available to remove the accused persons from their posts, the court observed. 

So the court while announcing its verdict ordered that both the petitioners should be allowed to continue their jobs as vice chancellors in their respective universities.
