US dollar thrashes Pak rupee to make new record

The US dollar continued its surge in the interbank market against the Pakistani rupee on Monday, gaining 49 paisa to reach another high of Rs179, up from its previous rate of Rs178.51, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Economic experts are of the view that the Pakistani rupees is under pressure due to rising export bills and foreign loans.

They said that around $1.120 billion were paid under the head of foreign loans, adding that the prices of import goods would further increase with dollar touching new heights.
