The Sindh government started mulling over tightening the lockdown again after the alarming rise in the coronavirus cases across the province, reported 24NewsHD on Thursday.

As implementation on the SOPs formulated by the Sindh government could not be ensured, the issue of relaxing the lockdown has become a headache for the authorities.

In this scenario, the provincial government is considering reversal of the decision regarding relaxing the lockdown after ensuring the implementation of SOPs became a challenge for the administration in Karachi and other big and small cities.

The Sindh government has also decided to convene a meeting of the provincial task force which will review the worsening situation as a result of the easing the lockdown. Later, the Centre would be informed about the proposal presented by the task force.

Commenting on the issue, Sindh government spokesperson Senator Murtaza Wahab said markets were being sealed for violating the SOPs. The provincial government was compelled to tighten the lockdown because of the prevailing situation, he added.

According to Wahab, the number of coronavirus cases and the resultant deaths are on the rise and they could not maintain a relaxed lockdown.

The traders had agreed to implement the SOPs but it became clear in the very beginning that how these were being violated, said the Sindh government spokesperson.
