The Islamabad High Court has fixed the hearing of petitions challenging the acquittal of former president and PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari in more than two decades old NAB references against him, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
The Islamabad High Court fixed the hearing of petitions challenging the exoneration of former president Zardari in 25-year-old references made by the National Accountability Bureau.
A two-judge bench headed by IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah would here the petitions on Monday (May 16).
The court directed the anti-graft watchdog to come to the court with full preparation while asking it to not waste the court time.
The NAB challenged Zardari’s acquittal in its references including the Ursus tractors deal, ARY Gold case, Cotecna and the Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS) cases.
In December 2014, an accountability court had acquitted the PPP co-chairman in ARY Gold and Ursus Tractor corruption references.
Next year, in Nov 2015, the Islamabad accountability court had also exonerated Zardari in other NAB references viz SGS-Cotecna references on the want of evidence.
Seven years ago, the NAB filed appeals challenging Zardari’s acquittal in its references.
