Former prime minister and ex-PTI chairman Imran Khan on Monday said that although Sher Afzal Marwat did a lot of work for the PTI, still one had to bear this thing in mind that he was a member of a party and had to abide by the party’s discipline, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Talking to media men at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, he said on several occasions he tried to make Marwat understand that he should not violate the party’s discipline and these were the party’s opponents he should take on. “But he would pick a fight with PTI leaders every other day.”
The former prime minister said it was so unfortunate that right at the time when a Saudi delegation was in Pakistan, Marwat made a ‘controversial’ statement about Saudi Arabia despite the fact that Crown Prince of the country Muhammad Bin Salman had twice convened the meeting of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) when he asked him for that. “Even today if he abides by the party’s discipline, we have no issues with him,” ex-PTI chairman said, adding, “The party has now issued a show-cause notice to Marwat. If he satisfies, then it is okay.”
When a journalist informed Imran that Marwat had said he would go to the Adiala Jail to meet him, if the latter summoned him, the former prime minister walked off without answering that question.
Imran Khan says ready for talks, not for ‘deal’, says Barrister Gohar
Also on Monday, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said that the former prime minister had told him that there could be talks with those at the helm of affairs, but no ‘deal’.
Talking to the media outside the Adiala Jail, he said that Kashmir was a serious issue and that Pakistan should exercise restraint.
He demanded the government to take steps immediately to provide relief to the masses.
“Former caretaker prime minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar, during a live TV show, had said the present government was the product of Form-47,” he said, adding, “We will take the matter to the court.”
