The Lahore High Court Monday mandated all District and Sessions Judges in the province to adhere strictly to the principles of law and justice, reported 214NewsHD TV channel.
A four-page circular issued by the LHC registrar underscored the judiciary's paramount obligation to dispense justice promptly to the people.
The LHC emphasized the importance of discharging judicial duties and upholding the principles of law and justice.
The letter states, "Our duty to serve justice and the public interest is paramount; any hindrance in this regard is unacceptable."
It asserted that the timely delivery of justice to the people of the province is the first and foremost responsibility of the judiciary.
It adds the judges are strictly bound by the principles of law and justice and are not subject to any external pressure or influence.
Therefore, judges are required to conduct judicial proceedings in their courts according to law and procedure.
The judges should prioritize their judicial responsibilities and ensure that justice is delivered without any delay or obstruction.
The letter continued that strikes by bar members had been outright rejected by the Supreme Courts of Pakistan as a violation of the dignity of the legal profession and a violation of the constitutional rights of the parties.
Judges throughout the province are instructed to execute their legal and judicial duties with the utmost respect for the law and the constitution, free from any external influence or coercion.
The circular further insisted on the necessity for judges to conduct court proceedings under established legal procedures, emphasizing that delays or impediments in the administration of justice will not be tolerated.
The High Court's letter also addressed the issue of strikes by bar members, which the Supreme Courts of Pakistan had categorically denounced as an affront to the legal profession's honor and a breach of constitutional rights.
The circular said that the judges are well aware of their duties as the members of the district judiciary want to ensure the rule of law and dispensation of justice impartially and efficiently.
