Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah Monday said that the issue of the Army Chief’s tenure extension should end and the decision of appointment should be taken by the Prime Minister in a few days, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Rana Sanaullah stated that the Army Chief’s tenure extension issue should end and the law that extends Army Chief’s tenure should also be revoked.

He said the most senior person should be appointed as Chief of the Army Staff.

Rana Sana said no one amongst the senior personnel is in contact with any politician.

He justified the rumours of consultation with Nawaz Sharif about the appointment of Army Chief saying: “Consultation is the sophistication of a process, it is what strengthens the process. Such decisions are always taken with the help of consultation.”

He said that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will take the decision and it will be finalized in the coming few days.

Rana Sanaullah stated about his medical condition and said that he was admitted to the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology AFIC and had just been discharged and is fine now.

He also talked about Arshad Sharif’s murder case.

He said that they had a conversation before he went abroad. He had no plan of going out of Pakistan. There was no checkpoint where Arshad was murdered and the rumour about his car disappearing is absolutely wrong.
