The Islamabad Accountability Court has issued arrest warrants for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan in relation to the Toshakhana and 190 million pounds Al-Qadir Trust cases, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday.
The Toshakhana case led to Imran Khan's disqualification from holding public office for five years, while the Al-Qadir Trust case involves allegations of corruption and abuse of authority which is currently under investigation. Imran Khan's wife has also been questioned in relation to the case.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Judge Muhammad Bashir, presiding over the court issued a two-page directive regarding the warrant.
The written order outlined the necessity to comply with the arrest warrant concerning the PTI Chairman in connection to the Tosha Khana scandal and a staggering £190 million scam case.
The directive specifically mandated the Superintendent of Adiala Jail to make necessary arrangements for the execution of the arrest warrant against the PTI Chairman.
The NAB filed an application to comply with the arrest warrant of the PTI chief.
On being asked what the high court did in the case, the prosecutor said the court neither suspended the order nor issued a standing order.
He also sought that warrants be issued, and the jail superintendent be directed to take action.
The NAB also sought immediate arrest of the former prime minister. The warrants are expected to be complied with in jail today. Imran Khan will be provided with a copy of the warrant.
Moreover, the NAB also provided Imran Khan's wife Bushra Bibi an 11-question questionnaire in the Al-Qadir Trust case.
Applications requesting compliance with the NAB-issued arrest warrant are currently being processed within the prison facilities.
