Ministry launches drive against sale of unregistered, traditional syringes

The federal health minister has taken notice of the sale of unregistered banned traditional syringes across the country, directing the authorities to launch a campaign against the sale of such needles, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
On the directions of Health Minister Dr Nadeem Jan, a market survey is being initiated to check the sale of unregistered traditional syringes.
The minister said that Drap has issued instructions to field offices and provincial health departments in this regard.
He informed that traditional syringes could be used repeatedly which might cause spread of serious diseases like hepatitis and AIDS.
He said that strict action would be taken against criminals involved in the sale, distribution and stocking of banned products.
“A coordinated strategy has been devised to stop the distribution of unregistered medicines across the country.”
The minister further informed that a National Task Force is conducting raids all over the country for this purpose.
