The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is mulling two options to get physical remand of former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan in 190 million pounds corruption case (Al-Qadir Trust), reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
Sources told 24News TV channel that the options for the bureau were either to produce Imran in the court or get his physical remand in the Adiala Jail.
They disclosed that if the NAB wanted to get his remand in the jai, it required the notification issued by the Ministry of Law.
However, sources said it was being hoped that the notification for the case’s hearing inside the jail would be issued soon.
And in that case, accountability court (AC) judge Muhammad Bashir would go to the jail.
It is worth-mentioning here that it is mandatory to produce suspect in the court within 24 hours of his or her arrest.
Earlier on Tuesday, the NAB, on the order of Islamabad’s accountability court (AC), arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in connection with the Toshakhana and £190 million Al-Qadir Trust cases.
Subsequently, a team from NAB Rawalpindi, led by assistant directors Asif and Waqar-ul-Hassan, went to Adiala Jail to serve the arrest warrant. However, on their arrival, Imran reportedly refused to meet with them.
After a wait of one and a half hours, the team executed the arrest warrant, which had been obtained from the court through the Superintendent of Adiala Jail. The superintendent of the jail then carried out the process of arresting Imran Khan.
The Al-Qadir Trust case, currently under investigation, centers round allegations of corruption and abuse of authority. Imran Khan's wife has also been questioned in connection with this case.
