Karachi University has increased 25 percent seats to bridge the shortage of seats as a larger number of students applied in KU-affiliated degree colleges, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

A large number of students have applied in degree colleges affiliated with the KU for Bachelors of Arts (BA), Bachelors of Science (BSc) and Bachelor of Commerce (BCom).

KU Controller Examinations Zafar Hussain said that four times students enrollment has been increased in the incumbent academic year in comparison to the last year.

Last year, 16,000 students enrolled in BA, BSc and BCom.

Pertinent to mention here that the University of Karachi was established by an act of the Pakistan parliament in June 1951. The present campus, to which the University shifted in 1959, is spread over 1279 acres of land, situated 12 Km away from the city centre.
