Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Friday provided 25 acres piece of land to Wild Life Board for establishing Pakistan’s first virtual zoo in Islamabad.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, this is significant progress in setting up Pakistan's first virtual zoo after the closure of the Islamabad Zoo.
The channel report said that the CDA has issued a no objection certificate (NOC) for the allotment of zoo land to the Wildlife Board and its Land Department allotted 25 acres of land to the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board on Friday.
The report said that the Wildlife Management Board has submitted a PC-II of Rs500 million to the Planning Commission in this regard.
As per the report, a virtual zoo and wildlife rescue centre will be built on the allotted land from the CDA.
Wildlife Board Chairman Rana Saeed said that a display centre will be built in the virtual zoo where high-tech documentaries about animals will also be presented to the visitors.
Some animatronic models of animals and a visual gallery will also be part of the virtual zoo while animals from all over Pakistan will be brought to the rescue centre for medical assistance.
Pertinent to mention here that the zoo in the capital was closed in December 2020 following an order by the Islamabad High Court.
