Ministries paying nothing while poor getting inflated electricity bills

In the face of huge burden being borne by the common citizens in the form of inflated power bills to make up for the line losses and reduce the circular debt, various federal ministries, divisions and government institutions have turned out to be the big defaulters of electricity bills, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

According to sources, various ministries and divisions are defaulters of billions of rupees. The Prime Minister House has also turned out to be the defaulter in terms of electricity bills. The Foreign Office is in default of more than Rs143.2 million.

The ministries in B Block defaulted on R98.3 million electricity bills.

Ministries in Q Block including Ministry of Finance are defaulters of Rs49.7 million.

Ministries in C Block defaulted on Rs40 million power bills.

The Prime Minister House is also a defaulter of electricity bill. It did not pay Rs9,819 electricity bill.

The Parliament House is in default of more than Rs52 million in terms of electricity bills.

The other departments and ministries which defaulted on the electricity bills include:

FBR (Rs15.4 million); ministries and divisions situated in Cabinet Block (76.4 million); Sindh House (more than Rs6.6 million); Punjab House (over Rs5.1 million); Foreign Service Academy (Rs4.1 million); National Library (Rs1.2 million); National Art Gallery (Rs1.7 million); Parliament Lodges (more than Rs1 million); and Azad Kashmir Council Secretariat (Rs 985,000).
