Army Chief General Asim Munir visited the Orakzai district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, ISPR said on Friday.
According to the military media wing, the COAS met the troops conducting anti-terror operations in the Tirah Valley and appreciated their high morale and preparedness.
The army chief was briefed on the overall security, the ongoing intelligence-based operations (IBOs) and measures for lasting peace.
He praised the local population's cooperation in the fight against terrorism. “The positive role of the local population is indispensable for sustainable peace,” he said.
He also praised the cooperation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police and other law enforcement agencies.
He reiterated his resolve to bring peace and prosperity to the region, saying that the peace achieved by the great sacrifices of the nation will be maintained at all costs.
The Army Chief visited the martyrs' memorial in Orakzai district, laid wreaths and paid tribute to the martyrs and the veterans.
“The sacrifices of the martyrs strengthen our resolve to fight with utmost dedication and passion,” he added.
