Punjab chief secretary asks for lists of lockdown-hit labourers

Punjab Chief Secretary Azam Suleman Khan has directed preparing lists of industrial labourers who had lost their jobs to lockdown.

Concrete steps are being taken to provide labourers with relief, Azam said while addressing a meeting on virus crisis.

Law Minister Raja Basharat, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Momin Agha, Lahore Commissioner Saif Anjum and CCPO Zulfiqar Hameed turned up at the meeting. Divisional commissioners and regional police officers joined theme through over video link.

The meeting was briefed that virus-hit pilgrims started leaving for their hometowns after being quarantined for 14 days and preparation for arrival of passengers from abroad.

The needy are being provided with financial aid under Ehsaas Programme as the government was fully aware of problems of day labourer, the chief secretary said.

He added medics safety will be ensured at all costs. He ordered officers to make sure free movement of good transport He promised all-out support to farmers during wheat harvest and procurement campaign.
