The Sindh government has once again succeeded in keeping the spirit of the lockdown intact by convincing the traders not to open their businesses from today (April 15).
At a meeting with the representatives of small traders in Karachi, Sindh Information Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah assured them of subsidy in the presence of Karachi commissioner and additional inspector general of Karachi Police. He said that traders had withdrawn their earlier decision to open their businesses from April 15.
Nasir Hussain assured the traders’ representatives that he would arrange their meeting with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and that the lockdown would be relaxed as per standard operating procedures. He said the decision to declare a lockdown in the province was taken collectively and the government would tackle the coronavirus pandemic at any cost.
The Sindh minister said the provincial government was aware of the problems of the traders and workers, but these problems were temporary. He said that coronavirus was a life-threatening disease. He said that traders belonged to Sindh and they would make decisions in the interest of people of Sindh. He said the Sindh government wanted to resolve all issues through consultation.
Nasir Hussain said that people of Sindh were fighting the coronavirus pandemic with unity. He said that lockdown would remain intact and new SOPs would be made for all sectors after consultations. He said the Sindh chief minister would hold a press conference at 1:00 pm on Wednesday where he would make important announcements regarding the lockdown and the new SOPs.
