The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Athar Minallah heard a petition seeking the release of Kulbhushan Jadhav and four Indian prisoners and ordered the Pakistan government to make contact with the Indian government through Foreign Office, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Justice Athar Minallah said the Indian government might have a misunderstanding regarding the proceedings of the Pakistani court.
The judge remarked he would dispose of the petition but first let the Pakistan government make contact with the Indian government in this matter.
The LHC CJ inquired the lawyer of the Indian High Commission whether he told India about the Kulbhushan Jadhav case, to which he replied that Indian officials are of the view that this court does not have jurisdiction in this case.
The Additional Attorney General said that Indian High Commission appointed a lawyer for eight Indian prisoners in Pakistan but they might have any misunderstanding about the Kulbhushan Jadhav case.
IHC CJ directed the Pakistan government to contact the Indian government and remove the misunderstanding.
“If India does not want to implement the ICJ verdict then it must be informed. They would have come to this court as per the order of the IHC,” he said.
IHC CJ remarked that India did not understand the hearing of this court with such miscellaneous petitions. The court has ordered to attach the petition of Kulbhushan Jadhav with the petition about the release of Indian prisoners.
“We respect the society of the Indian,” the IHC CJ said.
Justice Athar Minallah said it is a question of the life of an Indian citizen and not just a matter of jurisdiction of the court but the implementation of the decision of the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
“This court wants to implement the decision of the International Court of Justice (ICJ). The petition in the ICJ was filed by India itself,| Chief Justice Athar Minallah remarked.
The court adjourned the hearing of the case till May 5.
