A wheelie strange idea: Although it may seem impossible, engineers at The Q have created a bicycle with square wheels that is totally functioning.
Please meet almost normal bicycle but with one modification square wheels!' they wrote in the description for the YouTube video showing off the bike.
'This concept is fully working and you can ride and make turns.'
In the video, the team can be seen building the frames for the wheels by welding metal poles together to form a square.
Then, although just for aesthetics, spokes are added.
This is due to a tank-like track that is attached to the outside of the wheel and rotates around the entire frame as the rider pedals. The track around their edges moves to generate traction while the square wheels stay stationary.
Finally, the wheels are fitted on to a standard bike frame, before a brave rider hops on and sets off down the road.
'Creating and installing square wheels on a bicycle has been one of the craziest projects we have ever built,' The Q added.
'Lots of attention guaranteed.'
As the Q predicted, the video has garnered huge attention online, with over 1.1 million views at the time of writing.
Several impressed left comments of delight on the YouTube video.
'Wow, this square-wheeled bicycle is a true testament to the power of creativity and innovation!' one user wrote.
'It's amazing to see how something so seemingly impossible can actually be made functional and rideable.
'This project truly pushes the boundaries of what we consider "normal" and challenges us to think outside the box.
