Bangladesh defeated Scotland by 34 runs in the ICC Women’s Qualifier clash at Gaddafi Stadium  Lahore, reported 24NewsHd TV channel on Tuesday.

In reply to a massive total of 276 runs scored by Bangladesh batters, Scotland women displayed a solid performance but fell well short of the total. They made 242 for the loss of nine wickets in 50 overs.

Bangladesh began their defense strongly, with Marufa Akter delivering a stunning delivery to dismiss Abbi Aitken-Drummond early.

Nahida Akter soon joined the action, claiming the crucial wickets of Scotland captain Kathryn Bryce and Pippa Sproul, leaving Scotland in deep trouble at 31/3.

A brief rebuilding effort was cut short when Ailsa Lister was run out for 18, adding further pressure to the Scottish chase.

Sarah Bryce tried to steady the chase but her efforts ultimately went in vain after she hit one straight back to Jannatul Ferdus, who caught it with ease.

Megan McColl and Katherine Fraser were dismissed for measly figures of 5 and 8, respectively, further denting Scotland's stride.

Just when things were looking done, Priyanaz Chatterji and Rachel Slater combined to add a blazing 115-run stand for the eighth wicket, notching up half-centuries each as Scotland eventually finished on 242/9 after their allotted quota of 50 overs.

Nahida Akter led with the ball for Bangladesh, picking up 4-40 from her 10 overs.

Bangladesh will now face the West Indies on April 17, while Scotland will be in action against Ireland on April 18.

Earlier, batting first, Bangladesh displayed a solid performance with the bat.

Captain Nigar Sultana led from the front with a commanding unbeaten knock of 83 runs.

She was well-supported by opening batter Shamima Sultana and experienced campaigner Fargana Hoque, both of whom scored identical half-centuries — 57 runs each.

All-rounder Fahima Khatun also contributed with a valuable 26 runs, adding to the team’s total in the final overs.

Scotland struggled to contain Bangladesh’s momentum.

Katherine Bryce emerged as the most successful bowler for Scotland, claiming two wickets.

Meanwhile, Rachel Slater, Chloe Abel, Priyanaz Chatterji, and Kathryn Fraser chipped in with one wicket each but could not prevent Bangladesh from building a strong total over their 50 overs.
