The Punjab Assembly on Tuesday unanimously passed a resolution allowing construction of a five-star hotel near Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
The resolution was presented by the ruling party lawmaker Shoaib Siddiqui. It says that movement of players from hotel to Gaddafi Stadium causes a traffic mess every time a cricket match is played in Lahore. It says that traffic match during cricket matches results in long queues of vehicles in the city, causing a lot of mental torture to citizens. It says that these traffic jams waste a lot of fuel and sometimes result in death of patients on way to hospital.
The resolution says that traffic jams are also a cause of increasing environmental pollution in the city. It says the House is of the view that a five-star hotel should be built on the premises of Gaddafi Stadium immediately.
