A constitutional bench of the Supreme Court heard the case related to the controversial super tax, with Prosecutor Makhdoom Ali Khan arguing that income tax is levied on earnings without a specific objective and that all collected revenue goes into the national exchequer.
During the proceedings, Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail asked whether the super tax revenue was distributed among the provinces by the federal government, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported.
In response, Makhdoom Ali Khan referred to the finance minister’s speech, stating that the super tax funds were meant for the rehabilitation of homeless people.
He also noted that the super tax was introduced in 2016 and extended for one more year in 2017, with the objective for which it was collected not being part of any provincial revenue-sharing plan.
