KP govt seals 25 private schools, arrests principal for defying ban

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government swung into action on Saturday after some private schools defying official orders reopened amid coronavirus fears, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Despite strict orders from the KP government, private schools reopened in the province but the government reacted quickly and sealed as many as 25 private schools and arrested a principal in Swat.

However, the TV channel reported that Private Education Network in KP decided to open the schools and as per the network’s orders, the majority of the schools were following SOPs.

However, the police arrested the principal of a private school in Manja Kel, Swat, and sealed more than 25 private schools in Swat.

The private schools reopened on August 15, a month before the KP government plan to open the schools on September 15.

The TV channel reported that students' presence remained low on the first day of the reopening of the schools.

In Mardan, the Private Schools Management Association has also reopened schools but teachers remained absent in the majority of schools, the TV channel reported.

Parents said they will not send students to school until the government makes an announcement.

Talking to the 24NewsHD TV channel, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Minister Akbar Ayub said that action will be taken against the concerned administration for opening the school before the fixed date.
