Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Syed Mohsin Naqvi on Monday inaugurated the road connecting Gujranwala to Sheikhupura, thus reducing the time required for travelling from one city to the other to 26 minutes only, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The chief minister inspected quality of the construction at Waris Shah toll plaza, and appreciated it.
Speaking on the occasion, he expressed the hope that with the construction of the road, people of both the cities would find it easier to reach each other cities.
Briefing CM Naqvi about the project on the occasion, secretary construction and communications said that Rs5 billion had been spent on the road’s construction.
He informed that the project was completed under the public-private partnership mode. briefed CM Naqvi about the project.
Provincial ministers Mansoor Qadir, Bilal Afzal, Amir Mir, Advisor to CM Wahab Riaz, chief secretary, Punjab inspector general of police, commissioner Gujranwala, RPO, and CPO Gujranwala were present on the occasion.
CM Naqvi inaugurates model village
Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi also inaugurated a model village at Sharaqpur under the ‘Har gaun chamke ga’ project.
Speaking on the occasion, over 2, 600 villages of Punjab would benefit from the project.
He said that under the programme, each village would have a night watchman and a trolley for the disposal of garbage. “There will be a council in each village which will run the programme,” he informed.
