A local court in Lahore on Tuesday disposed of the bail plea of former Punjab governor Omer Sarfaraz Cheema in two cases of setting fire to police vehicles and Shadman police station, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The court disposed of the bail plea on withdrawal grounds. Omer Sarfraz Cheema had filed the plea from jail through his lawyers.

The lawyers demanded the withdrawal of the plea. Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Judge Ijaz Ahmed Buttar conducted the hearing.

A few days back, an ATC in Lahore extended the judicial remand of Omer Sarfaraz Cheema and leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in cases of May 9 violence for 14 days.

The court had ordered the police to produce the suspects on August 17.

The Punjab ex-governor, facing the allegation of attack on Askari Tower in Gulberg Lahore, was produced in the court of Judge Abhar Gul Khan on the completion of his judicial remand.

The investigation officer (IO) requested the court for an extension in Cheema’s remand, saying that the case’s challan was being prepared and would soon be presented in the court.
