Pakistani designer Maria B has always been very vocal about her views on transgender community. She openly criticized the things that do not go along with the code of her religion.
In a recent interview with Ahmad Ali Butt in his show ‘Super Over,’ Maria B justified her stance on opposing the intersex community. She also explained the difference between transgender and intersex community.
She said: “There is an important issue which needs to talk about. There is intersex community in Pakistan which is also known as Khawaja Sara. An act for the transgender rights was passed which was hijacked by those people who are not Khawaja Sara by birth rather they just pretend to be the intersex community. The bill has been misrepresented and it’s not all about intersex community but it is promoting some other agenda.”
“People need to be aware that there are normal men and women who, one day, feel the urge to change their gender and do so, referring to this group of people as the intersex community. I disagree with them because our religion forbids that.”
She went on saying that she is working with Jamat-e-Islami Senator Mr Mushtaq for giving the rights to the intersex community who have been deprived for 75 years.
