The polling process for the second phase of the local government elections has been completed successfully in 32 districts of Balochistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The counting of votes is underway on reserved seats of municipal corporations, municipal committees, and union councils in 32 districts of the sparsely populated region.
Councillors elected during the first phase of the LG elections cast their votes for reserved seats of 7 municipal corporations, 48 municipal committees, and 597 union councils in the second phase.
The voting, which continued uninterrupted from 8 am to 5 pm, was held for 33 per cent of seats allocated for women, and 5 per cent each for farmers, labourers, and non-Muslims.
According to the 33 per cent quota, women's reserved seats are 2408, labour seats are 902, and farmers’ reserved seats are 902. As many as 902 seats are also reserved for minority representation.
According to unofficial results, all candidates of the Dera Bugti municipal committees were elected unopposed, whereas the Balochistan National Party-Awami (BNP-A) bagged 9 municipal corporation seats. The BNP-A also won 6 reserved seats for women in Panjgur, while the National Party (NP) bagged 2 seats.
As more unofficial results started pouring in, the Domki group was reported to have bagged 10 out of 13 seats in the Sibbi municipal committees. Meanwhile, 7 out of 8 Union Council seats have been bagged by Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) in Ziarat's district Sanjawi.
The polling process for the first phase of local body elections in Balochistan’s Pashin, Hub and Lasbela districts was held on Sunday.
