Cracks appear to have been surfacing in the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the Sindh province over award of Senate tickets to Faisal Vawda and Saifullah Abro.

Sources says that PTI Sindh senior leader and former chief minister Liaquat Jatoi has decided to resign from the party due to his differences with the party over award of Senate tickets to the two aforementioned party leaders.

In a related development, sources say, Jatoi has convened a meeting of the likeminded party leaders at his residence on Wednesday evening to discuss the issue of Senate tickets. Sources say that Liaquat Jatoi and members of this likeminded group would announce their resignations at a press conference. Sources say that Jatoi is also in contact with former Sindh chief minister Mumtaz Bhutto, who is considering deciding his future line of action soon.

Against this backdrop, sources say, regional presidents and secretaries general of the PTI have decided to resign from their offices over controversial distribution of Senate tickets.

Jatoi had merged his Awami Ittehad party with the PTI in 2017 and consequently joined Imran Khan’s party.
