PHF names squad for five-a-side Hockey World Cup Qualifiers

 The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has officially declared a formidable ten-member national hockey team for the upcoming five-side Hockey World Cup Qualifier, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.


The event will start on September 2 in Salalah, Oman.


The squad was announced by Pakistan Hockey Federation President Mir Tariq Hussain Bugti after the recommendations of the National Hockey Selection Committee.


11 teams are set to participate in the five-side event.


Pakistan, India, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, China, Kazakhstan, Malaysia and Oman will feature in the upcoming event.


Olympian Waseem Feroz is appointed as head coach of the team while Lt. Col Yameen Khan will serve as the team's manager.


According to the secretary general PHF, the Pakistan squad will depart from Islamabad on PIA Flight PK 131 at 10am on Monday (August 28).

Goalkeepers: Abdullah Ishtiaq Khan, Ali Raza


Defenders: Mohammad Abdullah (VC).


Midfielders: Ahtisham Aslam, Mohammad Murtaza Yaqoob.


Strikers: Arshad Liaquat, Zakaria Hayat, Rana Abdul Waheed (C), Abdul Rehman, Abdul Wahab.
