Large number of trees, shrubs burnt in Murree, AJK forest fires

A large number of trees and shrubs have been completely burnt following fires raging in different forests of Murree and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) since yesterday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

The absence of road links has hampered the relief and rescue efforts as Rescue 1122 and Forest Department employees have confronted difficulties in getting to the sites of fires. 

Fire erupted in a forest in Palna Jungle in Haveli Kahuta area of AJK where the residents had to put out the blaze on their own because nobody from the administration reached the site despite the passage of several hours. 

Infernos have also been reported from three forests in Murree namely Ghorra Gali, Forest Range Committee and Samli Jungle, which could not have been doused till last reports came in.
