Most of Pakistan International Airline’s (PIA) flight operations have now become reliant on the planes acquired on lease, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

It has been learnt that out of 33 planes in the airline’s fleet, 13 have been acquired on lease from an Irish company.

There are two Boeing, two ATR and nine airbuses, which are on lease.

ATR planes were acquired in 2015, which are still part of the PIA’s fleet, while Boeing planes were acquired in 2007 and 2017, and airbuses between 2019 and 2022.

Out of a total nine airbuses, two aging airbuses are still included in the fleet.

It has been learnt that both planes are over 20 years old.

This is despite the fact that planes, which are older than 17 years, are used for transporting goods.

But the national flag carrier is using them to take passengers to different destinations in the world.
