In a shocking revelation, the involvement of NADRA officials in the production of counterfeit ID cards has come to light, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Friday.
The illicit activity was exposed in Peshawar, specifically at the Chitral Darosh NADRA office, where officials were found guilty of fabricating identity documents for at least 20 individuals.
Following extensive investigations, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) took swift action, leading to the arrest of the Deputy Director and Superintendent of the NADRA Darosh office. Alongside these officials, 19 individuals who had obtained fake identity cards were also apprehended during the operations.
Among those arrested, 13 were Afghan nationals, with two of them identified as agents involved in the fraudulent scheme. The arrests took place in the Wakho Pul area of Peshawar, highlighting the widespread nature of the racket and the need for comprehensive investigations.
Over the past year, the FIA has made significant progress in combating the issue of counterfeit identity cards. Their relentless efforts have resulted in the apprehension of approximately 100 individuals involved in the production and distribution of fake ID cards. Shockingly, this includes 11 NADRA employees and 25 agents who were complicit in the illicit activities.
The arrest of NADRA officials and agents involved in the production of counterfeit ID cards is a critical step towards ensuring the integrity of the identification process. This incident highlights the importance of implementing strict protocols, conducting thorough background checks, and establishing a culture of accountability within NADRA and other relevant institutions.
