National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal while criticising the Bureau’s critics said on Tuesday that there is no issue in naming a “fraudster businessmen” as dacoits, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a meeting at the Lahore NAB office, Javed Iqbal said, “In the morning you appear before the NAB and in the evening you talk against the NAB on the television.”
The NAB chairman advised his officers to differentiate between “businessman and dacoit”.
The top official of the anti-graft body further said, “A Sahib stated that investment has stopped due to the NAB actions. Let me say, the NAB and corruption cannot go together and the NAB is not an obstacle in the way of investment. If the NAB was an obstacle in the investment, then the construction sector would not have been flourishing the way it is flourishing today,” Javed Iqbal said.
“The NAB came into existence to serve the people,” he said.
The NAB chairman said that investment is on the rise and critics must adhere to the facts that the NAB is a human-friendly institution and the NAB is not a problem, in fact, a solution of these problems.
“If the NAB was afraid of anything then there would have been no increase in the remittances,” he said.
The NAB has recovered Rs533 billion and the anti-graft body is after the big fishes.
Javed Iqbal said that the NAB would continue its work the way it was doing before. “We do not need anyone’s appreciation except from the public,” the NAB chairman said.
