The interior ministry has given the green signal for the return of former military ruler Pervez Musharraf, who is gravely ill in Dubai, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
As per the official sources, the interior ministry has also assured to provide security to Pervez Musharraf upon his return to Pakistan.
The sources in the interior ministry have said that the name of former president Pervez Musharraf was not on the Exit Control List (ECL).
“He can return home [to Pakistan]. He will be given foolproof security,” they added.
The family of Pervez However, however, has not contacted the interior ministry so far.
Earlier, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif had said in a tweet that he did not have any personal enmity or grudge against Pervez Musharraf.
In his tweet on Tuesday, the former premier had stated that he did not want anyone else to suffer the trauma he had to endure for his loved ones.
He said that he prayed to Allah Almighty for the health of Pervez Musharraf, adding: “If he wants to return home, the government should facilitate him.”
Former interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said Nawaz Sharif’s offer was too late as the Army leadership had already asked General Musharraf to return to Pakistan.
