All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) Wednesday demanded the government announce a relief package of Rs 104 billion for the crisis-hit textile sector in the next federal budget (2023-24),” reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
In a letter to the Senate Standing Committee on Finance, the APTMA appealed to authorities that Rs 104 billion should be allocated for the textile industry in the budget.
It adds that Rs 40 billion should be allocated for gas supply to the textile industry and Rs 64 billion for the supply of electricity at competitive rates.
The association demanded to maintain competitive rates of electricity and gas for the textile industries.
APTMA lamented that the industries in Punjab are being supplied with expensive gas and electricity.
The letter further read out that exports will decrease due to a lack of electricity and gas at competitive rates.
