The Punjab government has decided to reinstate urban dispensaries in five major cities of the province including Lahore, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
A decision to this effect was taken by Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday.
Mohsin Naqvi also issued directions to take immediate steps to improve the security of hospitals.
He said that the government has provided 100 ambulances to improve the healthcare facilities for the masses while additional 112 ambulances will be given to the hospitals.
The CM said that administrative improvements will be made to take the proper benefits from the Universal Health Insurance Program.
“AC, fans, and water coolers should be functional in all health facilities, he warned.
Syed Mohsin Raza observed that the Punjab government has taken a principled decision to start the program "Now Villages Will Shine" in order to provide urban-style facilities to the people in the villages.
Under this program, the local government department will recruit 22,000 daily wage workers, he said adding that Rs 22 billion will be collected from 2,468 union councils.
