The city administration in order to control the dengue spread in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) on Wednesday imposed section 144 for two months on the accumulation of freshwater in any form,” reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
An additional district magistrate issued an order in this regard on Wednesday saying that action will be taken against the responsible found involved in violation of the orders.
The notification imposed a ban on accumulating fresh water in all forms including in ponds, scrap yards, and fountains, and on keeping tyres in open spaces.
The notification said that the accumulation of freshwater offered the ideal breeding ground for mosquitoes that spread dengue fever.
“The discharge of water from houses into streets and roads, accumulation of fresh water in the form of ponds without covers, running of fountains, standing water in plant pots, lawns and gardens inter alia amongst others carries the threat of exposing the population to mosquito-borne diseases,” the order read.
The ban will be effective for two months.
