Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a significant slash in the prices of petroleum products for the next fortnight.
According to a PMO press release, the prime minister decreased the petrol price by Rs10.20 per litre and the high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs2.33 per litre.
On June 1, the government brought down the petrol rate by Rs 4.74 per litre while the price of diesel went down by Rs3.86 per litre, it said, adding that the incumbent government has so far brought down petrol price by Rs35 per litre.
The finance minister notified the new rates, stating: “The prices of petroleum products have seen a mixed trend in the international market during the last fortnight. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has worked out the consumer prices, based on the price variations in the international market. “
It added that the prices of Motor Spirit & HSD for the next fortnight, starting from June 15, 2024, are accordingly being revised as follows;
