As Pakistan vigorously raised its voice for Kashmiris at Sunday’s video conference of the SAARC nations on a collective strategy to fight coronavirus in South Asia, a visibly shaken and embarrassed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was left speechless.

At the conference, Pakistan tried to awaken the conscience of the SAARC nations vis-à-vis the months-long lockdown and worst human rights violations in Indian-Occupied Kashmir. Addressing the conference through video link, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr Zafar Mirza asked India to lift the lockdown in occupied Kashmir so that communication is restored and people can get medical supplies without any hindrance.

“It is a matter of concern that #COVID19 has been reported from Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and in view of the health emergency it is imperative that all lockdown in the disputed territory must be lifted immediately, opening up communications and movement to facilitate dissemination of information, allow distribution of medical supplies and enable containment and relief efforts to proceed unimpeded,” Mirza said as speechless and embarrassed Modi continued to look here and there with an expressionless face.

As Mirza highlighted the situation in occupied Kashmir with regard to spread of the new coronavirus, Modi first continued to play with the pen and then took the pen in one hand as if he was going to write something down. He then put the pen down and changed his position and then tried to settle down. His body language clearly showed he was shaken and embarrassed at the mention of the situation in occupied Kashmir during the conference.
