In a bid to resolve the controversy of moon sighting and the announcement of Ramazan and the Eids, the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of Pakistan of Ministry of Religious Affairs has been considering to include Mufti Popalzai of Qasim Ali Khan Mosque Peshawar in the committee, reported 24 News HD TV channel.
Quoting the sources, the TV channel reported that committee members in the Ruet-e-Hilal opined Mufti Popalzai should be on the list of committee members.
The sources claimed that the name of Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai can be included in the committee in a few days.
They said Mufti Popalzai also willing to join the committee to end the controversy regarding the moon sighting in the country.
Reportedly, the incumbent Ruet-i-Hilal Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir last year expressed his willingness to use scientific knowledge in moon sighting within the limits of Shariah in order to end repeated controversies surrounding religious festivals such as Eids.
