The Economic Coordination Committee has laid-back the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PEPRA) rules for the import of urea allowing the Industries and Production Ministry to import 100,000 tonnes of the commodity during Rabi season, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Monday.
The ECC meeting under the chair of Minister for Economic Affairs Division Umar Ayub was held in Islamabad on Monday.
The committee allowed the Industries and Production Ministry to import 0.1 million tonnes of urea during Rabi season while relaxing the PEPRA rules.
Sources informed that to overcome the shortage of fertilizer for the Rabi season, different steps were being taken.
The policy for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises was also presented during the ECC meeting. The committee deliberated on the suggestion of providing easy loans to industries under the SME policy and tax relaxation.
The Health Ministry demanded Rs350 million for the purchase of Covid-19 vaccine.
