Counter Terrorism Department CTD Punjab and other sensitive civil organizations Tuesday arrested the facilitator of the suicide attempt on former home minister Colonel (Rtd) Shuja Khanzada Shaheed carrying explosives, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to the details, CTD and other departments arrested the culprit identified as Abdullah Khan who is a resident of Dadyal district of Mirpur Azad Kashmir during an action on Kallar Syedan road in Rawalpindi.
A large amount of explosive materials was recovered from the possession of accused Abdullah Khan.
During the investigation, the accused said that the explosive material was being taken to Rawalpindi district and Islamabad for sabotage.
Abdullah belongs to the banned organization Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and was trained at the Afghanistan centre.
His father-in-law Masood-ul-Haque Siakhvi and brother-in-law Ibrahim Siakhvi who are currently residing in the United Kingdom are accused of terrorism involved in suicidal attacks and nominated in Red Book.
The CTD representative stated that the department along with a sensitive civil organization conducted a joint operation after receiving a secret information and arrested the accused.
He also stated that during the initial investigation, the accused said that he gave refuge to the suicide bomber Hamza Shabbir also known as “Hafiz” who attempted former interior minister’s assassination and Qari Sohail who is a PO Red Book. He said that he did this on the directions of his father-in-law.
Abdullah Khan said that he also gave refuge and facilitated many terrorists other than the above stated a number of times. His house and Madrasa have been used to facilitate terrorists, give them refuge, making of suicide bombing jackets and storing explosive materials.
The CTD spokesperson stated that further investigation is going on and he will soon be brought to justice.
