The Lahore police have launched a search and combing operation in the district to maintain law and order, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.
Lahore Police have beefed up security at the entry and exit points of the city and checking have also been increased at all police posts.
According to CCPO Ghulam Mehmood Dogar, the police staff is carrying out a search, sweep, and combing operations in different areas of Lahore to crack down on nefarious elements, advertisers, and organized criminals.
In a press statement, Dogar said that checking of suspicious persons and vehicles is being ensured through general hold-ups at sensitive places.
“Officers and jawans of law enforcement agencies, including the police, involved in search and sweep operations,” he added.
He said that search and sweep operations in and around worship places including mosques, shrines, and foreign consulates have been increased.
“Search operation in the areas of Chungi Amar Sidhu, Rustam Park Gulshan Ravi, Defense C, Manga Mandi, Sundar, Kahana, Cantt, Bedian, Gromangat, Bhekewal, Shelar Chowk, and surrounding areas is continued,” he maintained.
Search and sweep operations around Data Darbar, Bhati, Delhi Gate, Mochi Gate, Niazi Adda, Sabzi Mandi, bus terminals, goods transport bases, railway stations, and educational institutions are carried out. Checking of houses, tenants, hotels, inns, guesthouses, shops, and godowns are also carried out, CCPO added.
He said that complete verification of suspicious persons through biometric machines is being checked.
Till the filing of this report, the police have rounded up at least 27 suspects during a search operation in Ravi Road, Data Sahib, Lari Adda, Railway Station, Chuburgi, Iqbal Town, Kacha Jail Road, and Nishtar Colony. They were shifted to the respective police stations for further investigation.
