Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has constituted an eight-member committee to look into the complaints against the immorality in the Pakistani film Joyland, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The committee will be headed by Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan while ministers of information, communications, investment, information technology, advisor on Gilgit Baltistan, chairman of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), and Chairman of Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pmera).
The PM has directed the committee to present the report by November 15.
Earlier, the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting revoked the censor certificate granted to the filmmaker of Jouyland months ago.
Joyland has been facing major hurdles after multiple complaints and social media uproar against the film subject.
Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan of the JI shared on Saturday a copy of the notice dated Nov 11 that read that the Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC) Islamabad granted the censor certificate on Aug 17 this year.
However, after receiving complaints that “the film contains highly objectionable material which do not conform with the social values and moral standards of our society and is clearly repugnant to the norms of ’decency and morality; as laid down in Section 9 of the Motion Picture Ordinance, 1979,” the federal government has declared Joyland “uncertified”.
