Sindh school teachers’ scale upgradation notified

The government of Sindh has approved the upgradation of the scale of Primary School Teachers (PSTs) from BPS-9 to BPS-14. 

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the Sindh School Education & Literacy Department issued a notification in this regard on Tuesday. 

It is decided to upgrade the scales of all teachers of Schools working in regular services.

The notification further says that decision will be applicable from July 22, 2022.

Pertinent to note that the Sindh Cabinet has decided that the primary school teachers recruited in grades -7 and 9 with bachelor education (BA/BS) will be promoted from grade 9 to 14 grade, while new recruits for elementary school teachers will now be in grade 14. Those PSTs who are intermediate will remain in grade 9 but they will avail of the time scale.

Currently, there are 22,880 primary school teachers under grade 14 in Sindh, while 4877 primary teachers are working in grade 14 and 2073 in grade 15, and 43,264 teachers working in grade 16.

It is suggested in the summary that the post of primary school teacher will now be upgraded to the new name, after which they will be promoted to Senior Primary Teachers in grade 16 and later promoted as Chief Primary Teacher in grade 17.

The summary also suggested that a 25% grade in grade 16 and a 10% quota in grade 17 should also be allocated for these teachers.
