Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi presided over online meeting to review prison reforms here on Friday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to a press release of Supreme Court of Pakistan, prison reforms meeting is a follow-up to the November 2 meeting on Judicial Automation Committee and Jail Reforms.
Chief Justice Lahore High Court Justice Alia Neelam and Administrative Judge Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza, former Justice Shabar Raza Rizvi, Senator Ahad Cheema and Khadija Shah also participated in the meeting.
On the occasion, CJP Justice Yahya Afridi appointed Amina Qadir as the coordinator of the sub-committee on prison reforms. The committee's coordinator Ahad Cheema and Khadija Shah will visit the jails across Punjab province to compile a comprehensive report.
Moreover, Lahore High Court, Law and Justice Commission, Police and Jail Departments were directed to assist the Jail Reforms Sub-Committee. During the meeting,
CJP also directed all relevant institutions to submit their suggestions for the improvement of the criminal justice system. Jail reforms sub-committee should complete the report and share it with Justice Shabar Raza Rizvi, which will be presented in the next committee meeting.
