The Supreme Court’s Constitutional Bench, led by Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan, heard 16 cases, including the recovery of looted Pakistanis' wealth held in secret foreign bank accounts, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel on Friday.

Lawyer Hafiz Ehsan Khokhar informed the court that recent amendments to income tax laws have enabled actions related to secret accounts and asset recovery.

Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar emphasised that FIA, FBR, and other agencies were instructed to submit reports on this matter. The FBR lawyer stated that only the FIA and FBR were involved, dismissing the relevance of other agencies.

In response, Justice Mazhar suggested that if the case should be resolved, the necessary reports should be submitted, and the hearing was adjourned for two weeks.

The constitutional bench also examined several other cases, including the suo motu notice on the private use of the Convention Centre by a prominent political leader, requesting a response from the Attorney General’s Office.

Additionally, in the contempt case involving former Federal Ombudsperson Yasmeen Abbasi, the bench granted her lawyer time to submit a reply.

On the same day, the bench concluded cases under the Banking Ordinance and postponed hearings related to Lady Health Workers’ service structure, consolidating all relevant cases and issuing notices to concerned parties.
