Pakistani police have arrested the prime suspect in the gang-rape of a woman on a major motorway last month, a case that sparked national outrage and has seen the government draw up proposals to have rapists hanged publicly.
Pakistani celebrities took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the recent development.
Actor Adnan Siddiqui stressed that with the prime suspect in custody it now should be the priority of relevant institutions to deliver prompt justice.
"Now that the main accused of Lahore Motorway rape is in police net, may we please ensure justice is time-bound. As they say, justice delayed is justice denied. Exemplary punishment to the culprits to act as a deterrent to this heinous crime," he said.

Cake actor Sanam Saeed reiterated the same noting that the how the proceedings are carried forward from here on should set a standard.
"May justice prevail. May this case set the tone from now on. Zero tolerance for such heinous acts. Whatever punishment is decided it must aim to be a major deterrent. May this case proves to be more effectively dealt with than cases in the past," she said.

Meanwhile, Suno Chanda actress Iqra Aziz asserted that there should be no leeway given in terms of punishment. "Over a month after the Motorway rape incident, Abid Malhi, the primary accused in the case is finally under arrest. The law must prevail - zero mercy!" she said.
