The celebrations of Ashra-e-Rehmatul Lil Aalameen (PBUH) are in full swing, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Thursday.

Alhamra Art Centre arranged a Mehfil-e-Milad and an exhibition on the names of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). Punjab Culture Minister Khayal Ahamd inaugurated the exhibition.

Lahore College of Women's University hosted the interprovincial Qirat and Naat contests. Umama Ashraf from a local veterinary university won the Qirat contest and Maham Tahir from a Bahawalpur varsity clinched victory in the Naat competition.

Government Technical Training institute Kamal Gunj Lahore held Mehfil-e-Milad Nabi. Students paid tribute to the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

At Lytton Road Market, Qari Muhammad Faisal shed light on various aspects of the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) while Muhammad Ajmal Qadri recited Naat. Such ceremonies were also held at other public offices including the DC office and Forest Department in Lahore.

Prime Minister Imran Khan formally started the 10-day celebrations with the objective of paying tribute to Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) and stepping up efforts to make the country an Islamic welfare state.

Addressing a special sitting in the federal capital, State Minister Farukh Habib stressed the need for following in the footsteps of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) to cope with the challenges. He reiterated his government's resolve to make Pakistan an Islamic

He said Prime Minister Imran Khan took the issue of blasphemy with the world leaders, calling for stepping up effort to protect the sentiments of Muslims.
