Gas supply was suspended to many cities of Sindh including Karachi after an explosion in a gas pipeline near a village in the suburbs of Tangwani, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
Investigations into the incident have been launched, police said.
The possibility of sabotage cannot be ruled out, they added.
It has been announced that all the CNG stations will remain closed in Sindh for 48 hours due to the low supply of gas from two gas fields of the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC).
CNG stations will remain closed from Saturday 8am to Monday 8am.
“There is a low gas supply from two gas fields. The company is continuously monitoring the situation,” the SSGC spokesperson said.
On the other hand, people in Awami Colony, Ram Swamy Colony, Site Area, Sultanabad, Orangi Town, Korangi, Liaquatabad, North Nazimabad and Lyari are faced with gas problems.
They said that they were forced to use firewood and gas cylinders. They added that they paid gas bills every month, but still, they were experiencing gas suspension.
