Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) leader Hafiz Hamdullah was injured in a bomb blast in Mastung district of Balochistan on Thursday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The bomb explosion targeted the vehicle in which Hamdullah was travelling. One of JUI leader’s companions and guard were among several other people who were injured in the blast.

The wounded were rushed to Nawab Ghaus Bakhsh Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Hamdullah was travelling to Mangochar town when he was targeted.

Security forces personnel have surrounded the area and launched an operation to hunt down the culprits.

The eye witnesses said that the vehicle of Hafiz Hamdullah slowed at a speed breaker when a motorcycle rider attempted to attach a bomb to it.

They added that the bomb could not be attached to the vehicle of Hafiz Hamdullah and exploded. “Had it been attached to the vehicle, it would have caused greater damage,” they stated.

Hafiz Hamdullah sustained injuries on his arm and head. “However, his condition is out of danger,” the hospital sources said. Eleven people in total were injured in the bomb explosion.

Fazl, Shehbaz, Zardari, Bilawal condemn attack

JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman vehemently condemned the attack on Hafiz Hamdullah. He prayed for the early recovery of Hafiz Hamdullah and others who were injured in the bomb explosion.

“Those involved in terrorism do not deserve leniency,” he said and urged the caretaker government of Balochistan to take action against those involved in the incident.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also condemned the attack on Hafiz Hamdullah and prayed for his early recovery.
